Carrots are an orange root vegetable. They are a staple food of rabbits, which leads to them becoming a bit of a stereotype in Zootopia.
Description
Carrots are a long, orange vegetable that taper towards the end. They have little sprigs of green leaves at their tops.
Role in the Film
Bonnie and Stu Hopps, the parents of Judy Hopps, are carrot farmers, and after Judy reveals her dream of becoming a police officer, they attempt to convince her to rethink it, largely by presenting her with the "enticing" offer of becoming a carrot farmer like them and her 275 siblings, but to no avail.
After Judy's terrible first day on the job, she attempts to cook a pack of "Carrots for One", which is actually just one carrot, for herself. After microwaving it, it is shriveled up, tiny, and unappetizing, prompting Judy to throw it away.
When Judy returns home to work as a carrot farmer after resigning from the ZPD, she sells a dozen carrots to a mother rabbit with her daughter.
The Carrot pen, which resembles a carrot, has a prominent role in the film.
Trivia
- Nick Wilde calls Judy "Carrots", a majority of the time throughout the film.[1] His initial usage comes across as derogatory, as though it were some sort of slur.
